Anime con recap
Holiday Matsuri is the only con I made it to this year, and even then it was a very last minute decision. I didn't have time to make plans with my friends :(. I also didn't get a hotel room and while on one hand it was great getting to sleep in my own bed and eat real food for breakfast, I hated getting ready in the parking lot (it was a 2 hour drive so getting ready at home wasn't really an option) and I think it really shows in my wig and makeup that I didn't have a real mirror lol.
Because I wasn't sure what my plans were until the last minute, I tried to avoid con crunch by working on a whole bunch of cosplays consistently throughout the year and just wearing whatever was finished and looked the best which ended up being Stein from Soul Eater and Riku from KH3, which I wore previously but I remade a lot of it this past year. Haku from Naruto was 90% finished but the wig got damaged just a few days before the con, so maybe next year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I've been trying really hard to get better at making props so even though they didn't turn out amazing I'm glad that I at least finished the keyblade and scythe.
Soul Eater is quickly becoming my favorite anime to cosplay because the fans are so nice and so fun to talk to. I got so many compliments on Stein this year and on Crona last year. I loved talking to everyone about how they made their outfits and props. It's so cool that people can use completely different techniques to make the same thing. Everyone is so talented! A few people gave me stickers, badge ribbons and other little gifts, yall are so nice :')
Holmat was also a great opportunity to eat at a few Orlando restaurants that I've been craving. We went to Chi-Kin, Tin & Taco, and Matcha Cafe Maiko
I'm really hoping that in 2026 I can finish all the cosplays that have been in progress for a while, go to more cons, but most importantly spend more time with friends. Since I moved out of Orlando it's been hard to stay in touch with people and what I miss the most is working on sewing projects together.
